1. Respiratory Support (for coughs, colds, nasal congestion, bronchitis)
Thyme oil has strong expectorant and anti-infective properties, making it a classic choice for respiratory issues.
- Steam Inhalation: Add 1–2 drops of thyme oil to a bowl of hot water. Cover your head with a towel, close your eyes, and inhale the steam for 5–10 minutes (keep a safe distance to avoid burns). Can be done 1–2 times daily.
- Diffusion: Add 3–5 drops of thyme oil to an essential oil diffuser to purify the air and help open airways.
2. Skin Care & Wound Care (antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, acne treatment)
- Always Dilute: Mix 1–2 drops of thyme oil with 1 tablespoon (about 15 ml) of carrier oil (such as coconut, jojoba, or olive oil).
- Apply the diluted mixture to minor cuts, insect bites, or acne-prone areas to help disinfect and reduce inflammation.
- Patch Test: Before first use, apply a small amount to your inner wrist and wait 24 hours to check for any allergic reaction.
3. Oral Care (preventing cavities, freshening breath)
- Mouthwash: Add 1 drop of thyme oil to a glass of warm water (only if the product is clearly labeled as safe for oral use). Gargle and spit out – do not swallow.
- Alternatively, add 1 drop of thyme oil to your toothpaste before brushing.
4. Relieving Muscle Aches & Menstrual Cramps
- Mix 3–5 drops of thyme oil with 1 tablespoon of carrier oil.
- Gently massage the blend onto your lower abdomen (for cramps) or sore muscles (for aches and tension).
5. Natural Household Disinfectant & Cleaning
- In a spray bottle, combine 200 ml of water with 10–15 drops of thyme oil. Shake well.
- Spray onto countertops, doorknobs, and other surfaces. Let sit for a few minutes before wiping clean. This provides a natural antibacterial effect.
6. Hair & Scalp Care (for dandruff or oily scalp)
- Add 2–3 drops of thyme oil to your regular shampoo or mix with a carrier oil and massage into the scalp. Leave for 5–10 minutes before rinsing thoroughly. (Always dilute – never apply undiluted to the scalp.)
