Black seed oil (also known as black cumin seed oil) is a natural oil extracted from the seeds of Nigella sativa, a flowering plant native to South Asia, the Middle East, and Eastern Europe.

Despite the name “black cumin,” it is not related to the common cumin used in cooking (Cuminum cyminum). It is also sometimes confused with black sesame or black caraway.
